Kutná Hora & Bone Chapel Tour
Join us on our day trip to this incredible UNESCO-World-Heritage-listed town and discover why Kutná Hora is rated among the most amazing sites in Europe. Visit the chapel decorated with nothing but human remains.
When: Every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday & Sunday at 11:00
Price: 700 CZK / person
Where: Just off Old Town Square – at the Discover Prague Tour Office (Celetná 12) in the heart of the Old Town.
What you will do
Starting in Prague’s Old Town square, the tour starts with a train ride (ca. 1 hour) from Prague’s Hlavni Nádraží (Main) train station, through lovely Bohemian countryside, to Kutná Hora. Then we visit the eerie Sedlec Ossuary. Below the 15th century Cemetery Church of All Saints at the center lies the curiously fascinating Bone Chapel.
After a lunch break at an excellent and very modestly priced (main course around 5 EUR) Czech restaurant you will take a tour through Kutna Hora’s UNESCO World Heritage Old Town,
What to expect
Stare in awe as our guide shows you a chandelier comprising of at least one of every bone in the human body, pyramids of skulls and delicately crafted shields of arms made of…yes, you guessed it, arms!
Kutna Hora however is much more than the Bone Chapel! Thanks to the town’s prosperous silver mines, Kutna Hora became the second most decadent city in the Bohemian kingdom in the middle ages and flourished, rivaling Prague economically, culturally and politically.
Eventually, the silver dried up and the town was ravaged by two Holy Wars, but what was left behind still wows tourists to this day: beautiful buildings such as the glorious Gothic masterpiece St. Barbara’s Church, the sumptuous Italian Court and Royal Residence and Hradek, the little castle.

Terezín Concentration Camp Tour
When: every Monday, Wednesday & Friday at 10:00
Price: 750CZK / person
Where: Just off Old Town Square – at the Discover Prague Tour Office (Celetná 12) in the heart of the Old Town.
What you will do
On this day-trip to the former ghetto, concentration camp and GESTAPO prison just one hour from Prague, we focus on Czech-Jewish history, World War II, and the Holocaust. A sleepy town in the Bohemian countryside today, our expert guides will help see through its pretty facade.
We visit Terezíns monuments, memorials, and museums and find hidden traces of its dark past while discussing present-day attitudes towards Terezín. You will learn about its history, from its times as a Habsburg Empire garrison town to the visit of the Red Cross and the story of Friedl Dicker-Brandeis and her children’s paintings.
What to expect
A sobering but essential educational experience shedding light on people’s darkest potential. Remembering what happened then and drawing the right conclusions remains forever crucially important.
Central to the Holocaust, more than 33,000 prisoners died here as a result of malnutrition, disease and the sadistic treatment by their captors. For many more, it was their last stop before being deported to extermination camps like Auschwitz, Treblinka or Sobibór.
This contrasts with prisoners’ courageous resilience. Defying the most dire conditions, people maintained a rich cultural and religious life, held celebrations, even composed and staged operas. Terezín epitomizes the worst aspects of the human spirit but its prisoners left the world striking examples of human potential and the power of compassion. Terezín played a unique double role, in the Nazis’ pursuit of the Final Solution but also their propaganda efforts to conceal the holocaust.
What’s included
- Round-trip public transport
- Admission to The Ghetto Museum and Magdeburg Barracks
- The Columbarium
- Jewish Prayer Room
- The Crematorium
- Seat of the Council of Elders
- Jewish dormitories

Prague Black Light Theater
The Theater of the Absurd
Possibly the Czechs’ craziest inventions, Black Light Theater is a wild mix of illusion, light, music, dance and acrobatics that confuses, enchants, creates glowing, dreamlike scenes and take neither itself nor the audience overly seriously. See a show at the Black Light Theater of Prague. For better or for worse this experience will be stuck in your head for a while. When: Most Nights at 20:30
Where: Rytířská 31, Praha 1 (Old Town) – Right between Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square, five minutes by foot from either place. Just opposite the Estates Theater (Stavovské Divadlo)
What Is Black Light Theater?
At its center is an illusion, specifically the black cabinet, an illusion technique thought up by the court jesters of the emperor of ancient China. The groundbreaking discovery behind the black cabinet trick is that people can’t see black things in front of black background.
Avantgarde directors like Méliès and Stanislawski used it to make objects disappear and Bunraku, a traditional Japanese puppet theater form employs the trick to make the puppeteers harder to see. David Copperfield uses it too.
Czech Black Light Theater goes far beyond that. Its godfather Jiří Srnec discovered the true potential of what the trick can be used for and built an entire genre around it: a mix of UV-lights and UV-reflecting objects and costumes on the one side and black velvet curtains and black-velveted actors/acrobats, of glowing and invisible actors and objects, make the seemingly impossible possible.
In the 1950s and started the World’s first Black Light Theater. It was the sensation of Edinburgh’s 1962 theater festival (“it put the magic back on the stage” according to a newspaper headline the next day). He and his ensemble would do hundreds of tours between 1959 and 1989, covering much of Europe, America, Africa and Asia. Just before the Velvet Revolution and the end of Communism they settled down in Prague and opened their theater – the beginning of a wave.
What is it really
It is amazing. Srnec created a bizarre, dreamlike world of his own: Neon colors, living inanimate objects, expressive dance, music, acrobatics, audience interaction and a tinge of elusive mystery but no spoken words.
Srnec and his company managed to spend most of Communism outside of Czechoslovakia traveling the world – by doing something completely bizarre but internationally celebrated. Srnec was since awarded the Medal of Merit, the Czech Republic’s highest honor. Born in 1931 he continues to work as a director, set designer, playwright-composer, and manager of his world-famous theater.
What you will do
See an original performance of the famous Black Light Theater of Prague.
What to expect
Black Light Theater is it’s very own kind of thing: A very strange, colorful show combining dance, music, lights, acrobatics, theater, and illusion. The shows are designed to confuse and entertain and don’t take themselves overly seriously.

Traditionally we start celebrating the New Year on the 30th. Why wait until the end of the year when Prague is already on fire? The crowds descend on the Golden City in time to make the 30th one of the most exciting nights of the year. And one night is not enough to do the New Year justice. Come party with us on the 30th, get unlimited free champagne (and vodka mixers, absinthe, beer and wine) for free for one hour. Get an early start to the year of the lord 2017.
×Limited Capacity: New Year is the busiest time of the year in Prague and people arrive early. Clubs are full, lines are long and charge much higher entrance fees than the rest of the year. Book early to make sure you get a ticket. Skip the lines. Get in everywhere.
